Nearly twenty-five thousand households in south-east Queensland were left experiencing outages on Monday morning after powerful weather events impacted the state, bringing powerful gusts hitting over 100 km/h.

Substantial Hailstones and Widespread Impact

Locals reported giant hailstones reaching sizes of 7cm in particular locations. Meteorological experts announced that various areas across the state had been hit with substantial ice precipitation.

Emergency crews were working to restore energy supply throughout the affected regions, with nearly 70 crews activated to handle the numerous electricity disruptions.

Southern State's Weather Woes

Meanwhile, around 1,000 energy customers in Victoria also experienced electricity disruptions after the capital city experienced its most precipitation in over 500 days.

Emergency response teams handled over five hundred requests for assistance across the state, mostly for property damage but also for downed trees and inundation.

Meteorological Predictions

Humid circumstances were predicted to continue along significant areas of the state's eastern regions this week as a low-pressure trough continued to draw in moisture against the coastal areas.

The following day was forecast to be the wettest day, with ongoing storm activity expected across different parts of both states.

Medical authorities cautioned that there was an increased chance of epidemic thunderstorm asthma across the state's northern country region, particularly given the current weather patterns.
